The Vig House Details

HOUSE KEYS

There is an “IGLOO” digital lockbox to the right of the front door.  We will message or email the code to you.  Touch your palm to the box to activate.  Type in the 6 digit code. Then touch the center lock icon.  The mechanism will grind.  Pull the faceplate forward.  There are two sets of keys inside.  Shut the face after removing the keys. The keys are for the front door handle only.

When you leave use the same process and put the keys back in the box and close it.

WIFI

The house has wireless 25 Meg Wifi through Vernon Communications.

Network: LinkSys5G (or something like that)

Password:  CharlieBrown. (it might be all lowercase)

HEAT/AIR

The house has in-ceiling radiant heat and central air conditioning (on the main level). The thermostat is on the wall as you enter the dining room.  Please set the heat to 67 when leaving the house (Winter).  Please set the air to 74 when leaving the house (Summer).  There are also thermostats in the upstairs hallway and basement wall to control the heat in those areas.  They are very sensitive.  Also, each bedroom has a wall unit air conditioner that is controlled by remotes in each room. These should only be used when it is very warm Summer months. (Sometimes the Master bedroom A/C needs to be switched on located on the unit itself, before using the remote.)

PARKING

You can park in the driveway or on the two-car slab to the North of the house.  The garage is currently used for storage. Street parking is not allowed in Winter but okay in Spring, Summer, and Fall.

TRASH

Garbage cans are to the left of the kitchen sink. Empty the trash when full and place new bags.  Extra bags should be under the sink or in the hall closet. Large garbage bins are in the garage. Recycled items can be moved in a bag to the bin, but must go into the recycle bin with NO plastic bags. So cans and bottles should be dumped in the bit. Thursday morning is trash day. Bins should be rolled to the curb Wednesday evening. Every other Thursday is recycle (yellow lid can) day. By spying on the neighbor’s bins you can tell which Thursday it is!

GARAGE

The garage is not available for cars as it is being used for storage.   There are three bikes and a tire pump in the garage.  There are no helmets.  Any bikes you use are at your own risk.  The garage is heated in winter, so please do not leave the garage door open for extended times in cold weather.  The garage thermostat is located on the wall in the garage. The garage heater on-off switch is on the right-hand wall in the laundry room.

The cooktop has a built-in fan that vents to the outside.  The switch for it is on the cooktop.

FIREPLACE

Enjoy the wood-burning fireplace in the living room.  It has been cleaned and inspected. We use wax wood logs like DuraFlame or Pine Mountain.  They can be found in the back hallway closet or in the garage.  There are no wood logs available at the house. The fireplace is older with a small flue as such there may be some smoke blowback on windy days.

SOUND

Vintage Console.  There is a 1962 Vintage Console in the living room with the original speakers.  It has a newer Denon Bluetooth receiver and Bluetooth turntable in it.  To use the receiver you can turn the power on and connect a computer or phone via mini jack cable (should be on the floor next to the console and press the input button to go to aux.  Or you can connect via Bluetooth by setting the input button to Bluetooth and then pushing the blue tooth connection button.  Then check your Bluetooth setting on your phone or computer to connect.  The turntable is Bluetooth and connects using the same method.  Press the Bluetooth button on both the receiver and turntable and they will connect. (This has been a bit fussy).

CD Player. There is a Tivoli CD player connected to the Denon Receiver through the black mini-jack cord. To use turn the CD player on and switch to Auxillary input by pushing the button. The power switch is on the back. It is tiny. There is a party button on the back that makes it sound better.

IPAL.  There is a portable Ipal radio on the kitchen counter.  You can unplug it and use it anywhere.  It is not weatherproof, however.  We like to listen to local WDRT 91.9.  You can find the schedule at wdrt.org. Some of our favorites: Friday’s from 4 to 5 pm is the After School Special, Driftless Jazz Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm., Booty Tunes for the Dairy Air 10 pm to 12 am Fridays.  Please return the IPAL to the kitchen and plug it in when you are done using it.
